Mrs. Ranford

Hello My Name Is...

Mrs. Ranford

Greetings, Larkspur Bobcat 6th Graders and Families!

My name is Mrs. Janelle Ranford, and I am SO excited to be joining all of you this year as the new 6th grade teacher at Larkspur Elementary!

My personal journey in education began 22 years ago in St. Louis, where I first served as a middle school math and reading teacher in a large urban school district.  Since then, I’ve been privileged to teach several different configurations of Grades 4-6 in Indiana, Texas, and Colorado, as well as serve as a Science Instructional Coach for K-6 elementary teachers, a Gifted Education facilitator, and as an elementary Assistant Principal.

My husband and I found our way to Douglas County (finally!) seven years ago, and it was love at first sight the minute I saw our beautiful community. I feel truly at home in Larkspur; Our little school in the woods is the perfect place to explore and discover the world with joy!

During this new year of hybrid learning (and beyond!), know that we will work hard, have fun together, and will intentionally build a positive learning community where everyone is both accepted and challenged to reach their personal best. Our guiding principles in 6th grade will continually be: Healthy School, Healthy Minds, and Healthy Bodies!

In my time away from LES, my husband and I enjoy hiking and camping in the mountains with our Bernedoodle pup, as well as traveling to multiple National Parks. I’m also an avid reader, and I like to bake sweet treats to share with others whenever I can. I dabble at playing the piano, enjoy live theatre, and am a fan of both football and ice hockey.  Finally, I can’t pass up any chance to watch a beautiful sunset, whether it’s stretching across the mountains, the desert, the plains, or the ocean. Our Earth is truly amazing!

Many who know me well describe me as a “teacher to the core.” Education IS my passion, and I’m so lucky that Larkspur is where I get to live that out this year with incredible students and families, every day.

Welcome to all, and I look forward to meeting and working with you as part of our Larkspur 6th Grade Crew.
