WHAT:  BraveHeart, Inc. - A Licensed Training Provider for the American Red Cross - will

teach the course, which includes information on:

* Leadership, decision-making, and the business of babysitting

* Safety, safe toys and play, behavior issues and how to deal with them

* Basic child care, including holding, feeding, diapering and caring for infants and young children

* Common first aid situations, and how to care for burns, bleeding, bee stings and more

* Recognizing emergencies, when to call 911, techniques for choking

* Intro/practice CPR and much more!

ADVANCED CLASS-Pediatric FA/CPR Certification: Additional First Aid/CPR topics include:

*Obtaining consent; Good Samaritan Laws

*When/how to move an injured person; recovery position

*Modified CPR; obstructed airway of an unresponsive person; infant choking

*Cardiac Chain of Survival; CPR; AED

*Sudden illnesses, including diabetic emergencies, seizures, allergic reactions, asthma

*Signals of heat- and cold-related emergencies

Babysitter’s Training is recommended as a prerequisite for the Advanced class...


WHAT ELSE? Take-home materials include a Babysitter’s Handbook, Emergency Reference Guide, CD-ROM, and a babysitting bag.  Fee includes use of all dolls, manikins, videos, and supplies needed for the class. A printable certificate will be emailed within a week after the successful completion of the class. NOTICE OF DESTRUCTION OF SPECIAL EDUCATION RECORDS

Special Education records which have been collected by Douglas County School District related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of special education in the district, must be maintained under state and federal laws for the period of five (5) years after special education services have ended for the student. Special education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, or completes his/her educational program at age 21, or moves from the district. This notification is to inform parents/guardians and former students of Douglas County School District's intent to destroy the special education records of students who exited special education services as of June 30, 2016. These records will be destroyed in accordance with state law unless the parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student notifies the school district otherwise. After five years, the records are no longer useful to the district, but may be useful to the parent/guardian or former student in applying for social security benefits, rehabilitation services, college entrance, etc. The parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student may request a copy of the records by requesting the records at this link ( Douglas County School District Transcripts and Records Requests ).
